How Does the Pro-5 Window Restrictor Work?

The Jackloc Pro-5 features a simple and effective design that allows for easy window baby proofing. The restrictor consists of two parts that are connected via a cable, one part that you attach to the window and one part that you attach the the window frame. The cable stops the window from opening further than you would like, preventing accidents.

How Safe Is the Jackloc Pro-5?

The Jackloc Pro-5 Window Restrictor is designed to withstand a force of up to 3600 Newtons – to put this in perspective it takes 3600 Newtons of force to lift 367kg (or over 57 stone) so, unless your child can do that, they'll not be able to forcibly break the window restrictor. The restrictor can be detached via the supplied key, meaning that the window can be fully opened at your discretion but only for those with access to the key.

As well as having a reinforced zinc cable, the Jackloc Pro-5 features a patented five-disc locking barrel that makes it more childproof. While other models of window restrictor include a turning mechanism that could be undone by curious hands, the Pro-5 will only release when opened with the supplied key.

Why Should I Trust the Jackloc Pro-5?

• EN 14351-1:2006 – Exceeded pass result on uPVC, wood, aluminium and steel windows
• EN 13126-5:2001 – Achieved pass tests for mechanical load, impact, percussion and cutting test for a force of 3600 newtons
• BS 6375:2 1987 – Exceeded force tests by 100 - 400%
• UKAS Salt Spray Test – Tested in accordance with ASTM B117-07 and evaluated to EN 1670:2007

The above are regulations for the durability and design of windows and doors, and associated products. These rigorous tests have been conducted to ensure that the Jackloc performs to the required level.

Is the Jackloc Easy to Remove?

The Pro-5 Window Restrictor is supplied with four size-8 security clutch screws. Once these have been fitted, they cannot be easily unscrewed. If you would prefer to remove the restrictor once your child reaches a certain age, we would recommend using different screws (please refer to your windows manufacturer for information on the best option).
